The Pelican Nebula, also known as IC 5070, is a region of active star formation and evolving gas clouds. This image shows the nebula in the light of sulfur, hydrogen, and oxygen, which helps astronomers understand these interactions. The Pelican Nebula is slowly changing, divided from the larger North America Nebula by a molecular cloud of dark dust.
