The sky on

“A Cosmic Zoo in Cepheus” is copyrighted by Yann Sainty. NASA has permission to show it and we don't, so it isn't on this card.
See it on NASA's siteIn the constellation Cepheus, the sprawling emission nebulae IC 1396 and Sh2-129 mix glowing gas and dark dust. IC 1396, energized by its central star, is hundreds of light-years across and about 3,000 light-years away. Within it is the Elephant's Trunk Nebula, a long, dark cloud where new stars are forming.
