COSMIC MESSAGE
In the constellation Cepheus, the sprawling emission nebulae IC 1396 and Sh2-129 mix glowing gas and dark dust. IC 1396, energized by its central star, is hundreds of light-years across and about 3,000 light-years away. Within it is the Elephant's Trunk Nebula, a long, dark cloud where new stars are forming.
