Star Formation in the Pacman Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
Look through the cosmic cloud NGC 281, also known as the Pacman Nebula, and you will see the stars of open cluster IC 1590. These young, massive stars, formed within the nebula, power its glow. The sculpted dusty columns and dense Bok globules are eroded by intense winds and radiation from the hot cluster stars. These dusty structures could also be sites for future star formation.
