Vega and Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks

COSMIC MESSAGE
On December 4, Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks shared a telescopic view with Vega, the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. Vega is about 25 light-years distant, while the comet was much closer, about 21 light-minutes away. Pons-Brooks has had outbursts recently, causing dramatic increases in its brightness. It is sometimes nicknamed the Devil Comet for its horn-like appearance.
