COSMIC MESSAGE

The Mermaid Nebula, also known as the Betta Fish Nebula, is part of the G296.5+10.0 supernova remnant. This filamentary nebula is a subclass of supernova remnants that are two-sided and nearly circular. It was formed from the death of a very massive star in our Milky Way galaxy.
