These dark pillars in the Eagle Nebula, also known as M16, are creating stars. This image combines visible light from Hubble and infrared from Webb. It highlights evaporating gaseous globules, or EGGs, emerging from pillars of molecular hydrogen gas and dust. The giant pillars are light-years in length, and their interior gas contracts gravitationally to form stars.
