COSMIC MESSAGE
This region near the bright star omicron Persei is a complex of dust, gas, and stars spanning about 3 degrees in the sky. It sits along the edge of the Perseus molecular cloud, about 1000 light-years away. Omicron Persei itself is just left of center, surrounded by a bluish halo of dust-reflected starlight. Immediately below it lies the young star cluster IC 348.
