Florida Northern Lights

Northern Lights sometimes appear in unexpected places, like Florida. This image, captured from Shired Island, Florida, shows the shimmering glow of aurora, a phenomenon more common at higher latitudes. A bright streak of a Northern Taurid meteor also flashes through the starry night sky above the beach. Meteors from this annual shower are expected around this time of year.
