Colliding Spiral Galaxies from Webb and Hubble

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Spiral galaxies NGC 2207 and IC 2163 are slowly pulling each other apart. This interaction creates tides of matter, sheets of shocked gas, and bursts of star formation. This image is a composite of visible light from Hubble and infrared light from Webb. Astronomers predict that the larger galaxy, NGC 2207, will eventually absorb IC 2163.
