Saturn's Rings Appear to Disappear

COSMIC MESSAGE
Galileo was the first to see Saturn's rings in 1610, though he didn't know what they were, calling them "ears." The mystery deepened in 1612 when they disappeared. Today, we know that from Earth's perspective, Saturn's rings become too thin to see every 15 years, as Saturn, like Earth, undergoes tilt-driven seasonal changes.
