The Great Lacerta Nebula

NASA APOD · Ian Moehring & Kevin Roylance
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Great Lacerta Nebula is one of the largest nebulae in the sky, yet it is not well known. Roughly the same angular size as the Andromeda Galaxy, it is found in the constellation of Lacerta. This emission nebula, cataloged as Sh2-126, is difficult to see with wide-field binoculars because it is so faint. It is also hard to see with a large telescope because it spans about three degrees.
