Ida and Dactyl: Asteroid and Moon

The Galileo spacecraft photographed asteroid 243 Ida and its moon, Dactyl, in 1993. Ida is about 60 kilometers long and 25 kilometers wide. Dactyl, the first moon ever discovered around an asteroid, is much smaller, only about 1.6 kilometers across, seen as a small dot to the right.
