This close-up image looks deep inside the Soul Nebula, showing dark dust clouds outlined by bright ridges of glowing gas, cataloged as IC 1871. This region is about 25 light-years across, a small part of the larger Heart and Soul nebulae. It sits about 6,500 light-years away in the Perseus spiral arm of the Milky Way, toward the constellation Cassiopeia.
