COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 1275 is the central galaxy in the Perseus Cluster, a large and relatively nearby group of galaxies. This active galaxy is a strong source of X-rays and radio emission. It grows by consuming other galaxies, which feed a supermassive black hole at its core. This sharp telescopic image highlights the resulting debris and glowing gas filaments.
