COSMIC MESSAGE
The Moon's smooth, dark regions are ancient lava flows from impact basins, named for oceans and seas. This view shows the Bay of Rainbows, or Sinus Iridum, which opens into the Sea of Rains, Mare Imbrium. The Bay of Rainbows is ringed by the Jura Mountains, remnants of the basin's edge.
