NGC 1300 is a large, barred spiral galaxy, about 70 million light-years away in the constellation Eridanus. It features a prominent bar across its center, and within that bar, a smaller spiral. At the very heart of this smaller spiral is a supermassive black hole. This Hubble Space Telescope image provides one of the most detailed views ever made of a complete galaxy.
