Jupiter's Moon Amalthea

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Amalthea is Jupiter's fifth-largest moon, significantly smaller than the four Galilean satellites. It orbits closer to Jupiter than those larger moons, always presenting its long axis toward the giant planet. Its dark surface color is likely due to sulfur expelled from Io, another Jovian moon. Amalthea is not massive enough for its own gravity to shape it into a sphere.
