Blue jets are a rare type of lightning that shoot upwards from the tops of thunderclouds into the stratosphere. They appear as narrow, blue cones, reaching heights of up to 50 kilometers above Earth's surface. Unlike regular lightning, which travels down, blue jets discharge upwards. These high-altitude phenomena were only recently confirmed by scientific observation.
