COSMIC MESSAGE

Shapley 1 is an annular planetary nebula, formed when a star like our Sun runs out of nuclear fuel. The star's core condenses into a white dwarf, while its outer layers are expelled into space. This nebula has a distinct ring-like structure, named after astronomer Harlow Shapley.
