The Sleeping Beauty galaxy, M64, looks calm, but it hides a turbulent past. Observations show that its central region rotates in the opposite direction from its outer parts. Even stranger, a middle region has stars rotating opposite to the surrounding dust and gas. These complex motions are likely the result of a past galactic collision.
