Our Earth is not at rest. It moves around the Sun, which orbits the center of the Milky Way. The Milky Way moves within the Local Group, which falls towards the Virgo Cluster. All these objects move together relative to the cosmic microwave background. In this all-sky map, radiation in Earth's direction of motion appears blueshifted, making it hotter, while radiation on the opposite side is redshifted and cooler.
