Galileo, Cassini, and the Great Red Spot

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Jupiter's Great Red Spot is a massive, hurricane-like storm that has raged for over 300 years. First observed by Jean-Dominique Cassini in 1655, it's still going strong, as seen in this mosaic of images from the Galileo spacecraft. This cold, high-pressure system is two to three times wider than Earth, with its outer edge rotating counter-clockwise every six days.
