COSMIC MESSAGE

Not all stars are found within galaxies. The Hubble Space Telescope has discovered about 600 red giant stars adrift in the intergalactic space of the Virgo Cluster. This image shows an artist's conception of the sky from a hypothetical planet orbiting such a lonely star. The night sky on such a world would be sparse, lacking the dense band of stars we see in our own Milky Way.
