COSMIC MESSAGE
NGC 604 is a region in the nearby galaxy M33 where stars are born amidst chaos. About 3 million years ago, a large gas cloud spawned dense knots that collapsed to form stars, creating a cluster. This image shows many young stars and what remains of the initial gas cloud. Some of the most massive stars have already evolved and exploded in supernovae.
