The Keyhole Nebula, NGC 3324, is a dark, dusty region within the larger Eta Carina Nebula. It was sculpted by the dying star Eta Carina, which is known for violent outbursts in its final centuries. This emission nebula contains a variable star that has been observed since a spectacular explosion in 1840.
