COSMIC MESSAGE

The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) is a small, irregular galaxy orbiting our Milky Way, about 180,000 light-years distant. It is one of the closest galaxies to us. Ferdinand Magellan's crew studied these cloud-like objects during their voyage, leading to their name.
