COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet C/2024 G3 ATLAS made a dramatic appearance in Earth's skies, reaching its closest point to the Sun on January 13. This image, captured from ESO Paranal Observatory in Chile, shows the comet setting in the southern hemisphere twilight. Its spectacular sweeping dust tails were clearly visible to the unaided eye.
