Von Braun's Wheel
In the 1950s, rocket pioneer Wernher von Braun envisioned a rotating wheel-shaped space station. This design, 250 feet wide, would create artificial gravity for astronauts. It could serve as a navigation aid, weather station, or a way station for space exploration. The station would orbit 1,075 miles above Earth.
