Copernicus is one of the Moon's more prominent craters, visible with binoculars slightly northwest of the center of the Earth-facing hemisphere. It's a large, young crater, distinguished by its size and many bright rays. Copernicus formed nearly a billion years ago from a colossal impact. Its center is about 93 kilometers across, as seen in this picture.
