Mars has two small moons, Phobos and Deimos. This picture shows Deimos, the smaller of the two, and one of the smallest known moons in the solar system, measuring only 9 miles across. Asaph Hall discovered Deimos in 1877, though Johannes Kepler had predicted the existence of Martian moons around 1610.
