Catching Falling Stardust

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This image shows the trail of a micrometeoroid through aerogel, a substance exposed to space by the EURECA spacecraft. The tiny meteoroid, about a thousandth of an inch across, is visible at the end of its carrot-shaped track. Studying these particles helps us understand the dust that permeates our solar system.
