NGC 6334: The Bear Claw Nebula

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 6334, also known as the Bear Claw Nebula, is a cloud of gas and dust where massive stars are forming. At 5,500 light-years away, it's more distant than the Orion Nebula but still close enough for detailed study. In visible light, ionized gas makes NGC 6334 appear red. This false-color infrared image reveals the glow of starlight absorbed by the dust.
