NASA APOD · AURA
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Keyhole Nebula, NGC 3324, gets its name from its distinctive shape. It's part of the larger Eta Carina Nebula, all created by the dying star Eta Carina. This star has been prone to violent outbursts for centuries, with a spectacular explosion noted in 1840. The entire system is now undergoing an unusual period of change.
