The Great Nebula in Orion, M42, is a vast starbirth region, one of the most famous nebulae. This image, a mosaic of 15 Hubble Space Telescope pictures, covers the inner 2.5 light-years of the nebula. It shows a bright open cluster of stars, the Trapezium, along with many stellar nurseries. These nurseries contain hydrogen gas, hot young stars, and stellar jets.
