This Hubble Space Telescope image shows the inner disk of dust and gas around the young star AB Aurigae. Knots of material, visible for the first time, may be an early stage of planet formation. AB Aurigae is a young star, about 2 to 4 million years old and 469 light-years away. Its swirling circumstellar disk is about 30 times the size of our solar system.
