COSMIC MESSAGE
The gegenschein, German for 'counter glow,' is a faint patch of light visible in the night sky directly opposite the sun. It is sunlight scattered back by interplanetary dust particles in the ecliptic plane. These tiny dust grains, remnants from asteroids and comets, create a subtle glow that requires very dark skies to observe. It is a diffuse, ethereal presence in the night.
