Our Sun, approaching its peak activity in the 11-year solar cycle, ejected this immense prominence on June 14. The SOHO observatory captured this false-color image in extreme ultraviolet light, showing ionized helium atoms. This eruptive event is part of the Sun's normal, dynamic behavior.
