NGC 7789: Galactic Star Cluster

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 7789 is an open star cluster about 8,000 light-years away in Cassiopeia. All its stars likely formed at the same time, but the brighter, more massive ones have exhausted their hydrogen fuel faster. These have evolved into the many red giant stars seen in the cluster. At 1.6 billion years old, this cluster is beginning to show its age.
