COSMIC MESSAGE

The Pleiades star cluster, a jewel of the northern sky, appears as a group of stars in Taurus to the unaided eye. Telescopic views show cluster stars surrounded by blue dust. The orbiting ROSAT observatory captured this false-color X-ray image of the cluster. Different X-ray energies are translated into various colors, revealing a different aspect of the Pleiades.
