Mercury And The Moon

NASA APOD · Tunc Tezel
COSMIC MESSAGE

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun. It orbits so tightly that from Earth it is often lost in the solar glare. A day before the August 1999 total solar eclipse, an astronomer captured this close conjunction of Mercury and the Moon from Turkey. Mercury shines brightly in reflected sunlight at the lower right of the image.
