A Close Encounter Of The Stellar Kind
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
The red dwarf star Gliese 710, currently 63 light-years away in Ophiuchus, is on a collision course with our solar system. In about a million years, it is predicted to pass within one light-year of the Sun. At that distance, this star, now too faint for the naked eye, will become a bright object in our sky. This close encounter will be one of the nearest stellar approaches to our solar system.
