Galileo's Europa

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Galileo spacecraft, during its loops through the Jovian system in the late 1990s, captured views of Europa. The data from these images has been remastered to approximate what the human eye might see. Europa's long, curving fractures suggest a deep, global ocean beneath its icy surface. This moon experiences tidal flexing due to its elliptical orbit around Jupiter.
