COSMIC MESSAGE
Leonid meteor showers produce bright fireballs that leave lingering trails across the night sky. These trails, called persistent trains, are mysteriously self-luminescent. They are visible for many minutes, blown by winds at altitudes up to 100 kilometers. This picture, taken during the 1998 Leonid shower, shows one such train, dubbed 'Glowworm', as it twisted into a worm-like shape.
