COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet C/1999 S4 LINEAR, discovered by the LINEAR telescope, made its closest approach to the Sun in July 2000. This image captures its tails, composed of gas and dust. The comet, likely on its first trip through the inner solar system, was visible with binoculars from the Northern Hemisphere.
