COSMIC MESSAGE
The Cigar Galaxy, M82, became bright and peculiar because it collided with its neighbor, M81. Images from the Hubble Space Telescope show massive young globular star clusters formed during this encounter. Stars in these clusters, about 600 million years old, are now exhausting their central hydrogen fuel. This collision helped astronomers understand how galaxies evolve.
