The Planetary Nebula Show

The Owl, Cat's Eye, Ghost of Jupiter, and Saturn nebulae are all planetary nebulae. These glowing shrouds are shed by dying sun-like stars when they run out of nuclear fuel. They are beautiful to look at, and their symmetric, planet-like shapes give them their popular names. These cosmic clouds are typically a thousand times the size of our solar system.
