MyCn 18, the Engraved Hourglass Nebula, is a planetary nebula with a distinct hourglass shape. This structure forms as a dying star, similar to our Sun, sheds its outer layers into space. The central star is exhausting its nuclear fuel, marking a brief, dramatic phase before it becomes a white dwarf. The Hubble Space Telescope captured this detailed view in 1995.
