COSMIC MESSAGE
M43 is a star-forming region, a neighbor of the Orion Nebula, M42. It is about 1600 light years away. It displays intricate streams of dark dust, but it is mostly composed of glowing hydrogen gas. M42, seen in part to the upper right, includes many bright stars from the Trapezium star cluster.
