COSMIC MESSAGE
Venus, imaged for the first time in X-rays by the Chandra Observatory, is shown on the left, next to an optical image. Both views show Venus illuminated by the Sun from the right, with only half of the sunlit hemisphere visible. However, the X-ray image reveals a bright crescent, while the optical image shows a full, bright center.
